About

Our Promise

Tribal Katha is an authentic representation of the rich and diverse tribal art and culture in India. Handcrafted by tribal artisans, each piece of art is an exclusive creation that exudes elegance and cannot be easily replicated. The endeavour is to build a unique collection that showcases tribes and their skillful handiwork to the world.

Join this Tribe to support the artisans and weavers across the country. Tribal Katha pledges to donate 2% of the sales in development and progress of tribal art.

Sisters. Friends. Partners.

A passion project by Sonali Chatterjee and Chaitali Mazumdar, Tribal Katha was conceived during the lockdown in 2020. To help create a sustainable living for the myriad tribal artisans in India, the first cousins  have embarked on a mission to present India's tribal heritage at a global platform.

Each design is handcrafted and is an ode to the craftsmanship and skill of the creator. Tribal Katha brings the most exclusive designs that will never have an exact replica.

A new Beginning

Breaking stereotypes in the startup culture, the sexagenarian sisters begin a new journey to redefine purpose. From super successful home managers to business managers, the duo present their unique design ethos and exclusive sense of style through Tribal Katha.

Handcrafted Exclusivity

Handcrafted with care, Tribal Katha presents a premium collection which represents the beautiful traditional design language and culture of each state. As these are handcrafted, replicating the design at scale is not possible as no two handcrafted pieces will be similar.

The Logo Story

The logo is an eclectic statement of India's diverse cultures, myriad colours and the infinite expressions through handcrafted exclusivity. 'Katha' in the Indian language of Hindi means a story. Style of writing is inspired by one of India's oldest scripts, Devnagari. The design weaves in the sign of infinity to express infinite possibilities, choices and stories.
